*UNMIT apologize to PM Gusmao

President Jose Ramos Horta said the Special
Representative of the United Nations Secretary
General in Timor-Leste, Ameerah Haq has
apologized to Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao
regarding the recent statements in the report of
the United Nations Integrated Mission in
Timor-Leste (UNMIT) saying PM Gusmao is an
obstacle to democracy and national development in
the country. “The Special Representative of UN,
Ameerah Haq has talked to me that she had also
spoken to Prime Minister Gusmao expressing her
apology about the statement of a UNMIT staff,”
President Horta said. President Horta stressed it
is important for UNMIT to select qualified staff
to observe situation in any countries and should not select unqualified staff.
